Eryngium ovinum - Blue devil
 
A low, open perennial with stiff prickly leaves and globular, spiky steel blue flowerheads in summer. Prefers a sunny or semi shaded position in heavy basalt soils, grows taller amongst grasses it can trail up. It dies back to restock in autumn. A very ornamental species suited to wildflower gardens or containers. can be used as a cut or dried flower.
